Camp Extreme: Inside Out

Camp Extreme was AWESOME! The theme was "Inside Out" and our focus scripture was Romans 12:2, "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."

The students learned about.....
Transforming their mind by studying Nicodemus
Transforming their heart by studying Peter
Transforming their actions by studying Paul
Transforming the world by studying Acts 1:8

We took 26 students and 5 sponsors. Our days were filled with bible study, worship, mission activities, swimming, recreation, zip lines, ropes course, archery, crafts, and much more.

We learned about a ministry called Sweet Sleep. It is a ministry who provides beds, mattresses, pillows, mosquito nets, and Bibles to orphans in other countries. This week Sweet Sleep had a team in Gulu, Uganda and needed more mosquito nets. These nets literally save children's lives by preventing Malaria. The goal was to raise enough money for 245 nets (each net cost $8). The students and sponsors at Camp Extreme gave almost $3100 which provided 385 nets. The students also wrote letters to the children and made heart shaped pillows.

Special thanks to our extra drivers who took us or brought us home..........Stacey Allen, Karen Jackson, Darla Nagy, and Rebecca Lashaway.

We had an incredible week!

Beach Camp Last Day! 11:15 AM

Howdy! Yes we are back in Texas! We are nearly to Dallas. If things hold up, we should be home by 7:00 instead of 10;30. That would be great! We left last night at 10:30. Thirty minutes before I scheduled time. The bus drivers made really good time last night. We had breakfast in Shreveport, Louisiana. That means they left Florida and crossed Alabama, Mississippi, and most of Louisiana while we slept. Just for the record, the roads in Texas are much better than those other states. It was a little bumpy. Camp was great for the kids. They were able to get into the ocean every day, and for the first time in two years there was a yellow instead of a red flag. That means that they were just under a caution flag instead of red warning flag. The cooks at the camp did a great job. I'm sure I gained weight. The worship was very good. The worship leader was from Corpus Christi. Matt closed out the week with a really strong message last night. There were several students that made decisions at camp which makes it all worth while. After worship the students moved all their luggage on the pad in front of our cabin. Then they went to the beach for church time. While they were gone two big busses pulled up in the spot where we were supposed to load. As it turns out, the Chrpus Christi Church was leaving a little before us. Tamara Everett and I really had a hard time keeping them from loading our luggage onto their busses. Kade was ready to go home. I think he was thinking about getting on the bus with Corpus. We should be in Weatherford for lunch and then just a few more hours to home
